The Sights of Phnom Penh, A Full Day Private Excursion From Sihanoukville

With pickup from your hotel or the Cruise Ship Port in Sihanoukville you will travel on the new highway to Phnom Penh. Arriving at the Silver Pagoda marvel at a Buddha contructed with over 90 kilos of gold and once adorned with almost 10.000 diamonds. A small Emerald Buddha is also on display, its composition is a matter of dispute, with some saying it is made of crystal. Many murals adorn the walls featuring scenes from the Reamker, a Cambodian epic poem based on the Ramayana that shows the balance of good and evil.

After that will be lunch at a restaurant in the Riverside area of the city, with views over the confluence of the Tonle Sap and Mekong rivers. 

From there it is off to the Royal Palace, here you will visit the Throne Room with its intricate carvings. Once used as the Kings Court, it is now used for Royal ceremonies. Then to the open air Moonlight Pavilion which is used as a stage for Traditional Khmer Dance, and for banquets. 

Next up is the National Museum of Cambodia. There are over 14.000 items in its inventory dating from prehistory to the end of the Khmer Empire. Artifacts from all over Cambodia are represented, with many from Angkor, in a variety of styles and materials including ceramics, wood and bamboo, textiles, and stone. There are Stone Garuda statues and Bronze Temple Bells, as well as everyday items from homes.

After this full day you will be returned to Sihanoukville and your hotel, or the Cruise Ship Port.
