Located on the Sangke River, Battambang is a popular stop on the way to Siem Reap, but it is a wonderful destination on its own. Known for its well preserved colonial buildings, The Art Deco Psar Nat Market, The Bamboo Train, the 11th century ruins of nearby Ek Phnom and Phnom Banan, the Bat Cave, The Killing Caves of the Khmer Rouge, and its many excellent restaurants and Bars serving local and international food. Some people happily spend a week or more here.
