Tour of Koh Ker and Beng Mealea Temples

After pickup from your hotel or guesthouse you will be exploring the ruins of Beng Mealea, this 12th century temple was originally built as a Hindu site and features extensive sandstone carvings. Its lintels and pediments are considered some of the finest of the period with depictions of The Churning of the Sea of Milk, Vishnu being borne aloft by Garuda, as well as many Nagas. Following a delicious lunch at a local restaurant we head to Koh Ker. At least 180 individual temples and shrines were built in this area covering 81 square kilometres. Most are completely unrestored, and are being reclaimed by the jungle, the site does not have the more curated feel of a Park like Angkor Wat does. Though all the buildings here were originally Hindu the style varies from the seven tier Step Pyramid to temples similar to what is found at Angkor Wat. Truly fascinating, and a bit off the beaten track, you will not be drowned in influencers here. At the end of your tour your guide will return you to your residence.
