Kampong Thom

Prasat Kok Rokar

The Hindu Temple of Prasat Kok Rokar was originally built as a Hospital Temple, and staffed by monks trained in medicine. This was a public works project of the King Suryavarman I to provide medical care for the poor. While much of the temple is in a tumbledown state, many fine carvings remain, among them are various deities, flowers, and scrollwork.
