Bakan Temples
Constructed in a similar style to the temples at Bayon and Ta Prohm, the complex at Bakan was possibly a Royal Palace used by King Jayavarman VII. The extensive ruins here have not been the subject of much study. Many of its carvings were brought to France in the 19th century, and little remains at the site aside from the walls. The jungle has been reclaiming the area for hundreds of years, and this has taken its toll on the buildings, along with damage done by war and looting.
