It's an early morning today so you can catch the sunrise over Angkor Wat, then back to your hotel for breakfast. Then off to what was then the capital city, Angkor Thom. Its nine square kilometres are enclosed by a highly decorated carved stone wall 8 eight metres high and a moat. Most notable is the bridge leading across the moat to the South Gate flanked by carvings of Nagas. Once inside the walls you will visit Bayon with its numerous smiling Buddhas, the Terrace of the Leper King, Baphuon, and the Terrace of the Elephants. Located just 1 kilometre away is the overgrown Temple of Ta Prohm. This stunning spot was thrown into the limelight when it was used as a setting in the film Tomb Raider with Angelina Jolie.
We will then break for lunch before heading to the Temples of Banteay Kdei and Banteay Srei. Built as a Buddhist Monastery, Banteay Kdei is known for its concentric galleries and cloisters.
