Elephant Trek in Mondulkiri at the Bunong Elephant Sanctuary
After picking you up at your guest house we drive to the Bunong Village Elephant Sanctuary. There we will see their traditional houses and view their way of life. The Bunong are not Buddhist, they are Animists that believe in the spirits of nature.
We will walk from their village down into the valley along a jungle path, on the way we can see many of the crops they tend. Prominent among them are Rice, Manioc, Cashew, and Banana. A bit further down we will meet our new friend for the day. After the introductions you are invited to touch and feed the Elephant. Then we are off for a jungle walk with the Elephant to the Waterfall at the River where we will stop and have a nice lunch. This beautiful quiet spot is a great place to relax while you all eat.
After your lunchbreak, change into your bathing suit because it is time to swim, and wash the Elephant. They love the water, and as well as a way to keep clean it also helps them moderate their body temperature.
We will dry off, give the Elephant another snack, then it will be released back into the jungle where it will do private Elephant stuff, and we will walk back to the Bunong Village, then return you to your guest house.
This is respectful travel, the Elephants are not ridden, or exploited.
This is a private tour, so you may take it any day, and anytime you would like. Just let us know what fits your schedule.
