Three Day Private Trek and Homestay in Mondulkiri

The evening before your trek your guide will meet with you to go over the itinerary and answer any questions you may have.

Day 1)

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Sen Monorom for the short drive to the Elephant Sanctuary. Here you will meet the Elephants and have an opportunity to feed them as you learn about the Sanctuary's work. You will be walking along with them as they make their way through the forest, your guide will be there to explain the Elephants behavior. We will break for lunch at the visitor hut. After that it is time for the Elephants daily bath in the river, here you can help give them a scrub and have a swim yourself.

Walking back out of the forest your guide will next take you to the Bunong Village. After being welcomed you can walk around the village to see what local life is like. This is quite different compared to the rest of Cambodia, the Bunong have their own language and traditions and they are Animists, unlike the majority Khmer. Dinner will be homecooked by the family you are staying with.

Day 2)

After breakfast with the family your guide will drive you to Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary where you will meet a Bunong Ranger who will accompany you in the jungle. You will hike for a bit then break for a snack of bread and fruit, during this time the Ranger will be pointing out plants and animals of interest and answering your questions. Continuing on you will stop for lunch on the banks of a small river. here you can relax and cool down. Then your trek continues through the lush jungle, birdlife is abundant, and you may start to hear the calls of Gibbons. Arriving at another small river the Ranger will make camp and start preparing a traditional dinner. Tonight you will be sleeping in a Jungle hammock, Jungle Hammocks are different than ordinary Hammocks in that they have mosquito netting along the sides and a full roof, basically a tent you hang between the trees.

Day 3)

Unless you are a very heavy sleeper the Gibbons will have you awake at dawn with their raucous calls. After a quick breakfast and breaking camp the Ranger will try to locate them. Gibbons are most active and sociable in the early morning so you will be hopping to it to track them through the forest. With luck you can observe them for a few hours, occasionally though they may just disappear. Hopefully you should be able to get as close as 15 metres away from them. Lunch will again be prepared by the Ranger, then you have a few more hours hiking in the rainforest before your guide returns you to your hotel in Sen Monorom.
