Only 4 kilometres from Stung Treng is the 7th century red brick Temple of Preah Ko (the Sacred Cow). The complex lies mostly in ruins, but is still used. During Khmer New Year the site hosts a four day long game played by the Kuoy ethnic minority in the plaza next to the Sacred Cow statue. There are numerous Temples in the area, all in various states of degradation along the river here. It is a nice place to meander and wonder at the ancient world.
